Dating back to a Chilean family winery of the middle of the 18th century where our Aoyo story begins, the nearly 2,000 hectares of vineyards and high-quality wines enjoyed a high reputation in Chile. In 1982, Mr. Jose Esturillo, a member from the Esturillo family, inherited the winery officially. Jose grew up near the sea, and loved it so much that he became a local ocean protector. After inheriting the winery, he founded his own brand – aoyo, which means "amazing ocean, youthful oath", expressing the new generation of winery owner's determination to make wine with care and protect the beautiful ocean. This mission brought a new vitality to the winery.

One day, while walking on the beach of Chiloe Island, Jose encountered a big red fish, which was entangled in a fishing net and was scarred. Jose rescued the red fish and released it back into the ocean. At the moment, Jose felt the significance of his mission. After went back to the winery, he designed the image of the big red fish as the logo of the aoyo brand to always remind himself of his mission to protect the ocean.

Legend has it that the mermaid often transformed into a big red fish and appeared on Chiloe Island. The big red fish brought good luck to Jose, and the aoyo brand developed rapidly. Today, the high-quality wines made with care have won recognition and appreciation of the South-America, North-America and European markets. This brand story witnesses a winery owner's love and protection of the ocean, as well as his sense of mission and course of struggle.
